Stay, go or restructure- DT Earl Mitchell

Stay, go or restructure: DT Earl Mitchell
    Experience: Six seasons
    2015 stats: 22 tackles
    2016 salary/cap charge: $3 million, $3.5 million cap
Analysis: Mitchell had his toughest season to date with the Dolphins. He struggled with both injuries and performance. Mitchell was expected to thrive in 2015 playing next to stud defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for the first time in his career. Instead, the two didn’t play well off one another and Miami finished ranked 28th in run defense, which is one of the biggest surprises of the season. Nagging calf and back injuries forced Mitchell to miss four games, and rookie second-round pick Jordan Phillips did a decent job filling in. Phillips has a higher ceiling and may be ready for a bigger role in 2016. That could make Mitchell, and his $3 million salary, expendable this offseason.

I would release Mitchell and save that $3 million. I think Phillips should be moved into the starting lineup with Suh. I would then look to sign an inexpensive free agent DT and also draft a DT later on in the draft. Most teams keep 4 DT's.
