  • Former Lions coach, Jim Washburn hired as new DL Coach

Source tells @NFLonFOX that @MiamiDolphins are hiring Jim Washburn as senior defensive assistant working with d-line. Ties w/ @NdamukongSuh
Jim Washburn (born December 2, 1949 in Shelby, North Carolina) is an American football coach. He was the offensive line coach for the Detroit Lions from 2013 to 2015, defensive line coach for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League and the Tennessee Titans' defensive line coach from 1999–2010.
The Lion force is strong with this team... lol...

Eagles pass rusher Brandon Graham does not look back fondly on his old position coach Jim Washburn.Graham looks back on his two seasons playing for Washburn, in 2011 and 2012, as a miserable time. Washburn’s negativity took its toll.“The low point was when Wash was here,” Graham told CSNPhilly.com. “That was my low point. Because [more]

I don't see how this hiring has ties with Suh as Washburn was the O-line coach at Detroit where he Washed-out.

      Lions Biography

      LIONS COACHING HIGHLIGHTS
      • The 2014 Lions defensive line was among the best in the league in forcing opponents into negative plays (sacks and tackles for loss on rushing plays). Detroit ranked fifth in sacks by defensive line (34.0), tied for third in TFL on rushing plays by defensive line (26) and second in total negative plays by defensive line with 60.
      • The Lions tied an NFL record for the most games (14) holding opponents to less than 100 rushing yards in a season. The 14 games limiting opponents to less than 100 rushing yards is also a franchise record.
      • DE Ezekiel Ansah followed up on his stellar rookie season by finishing with 7.5 sacks in 2014, giving him 15.5 in his first two NFL seasons. His 15.5 sacks over the last two seasons rank third among all NFL defensive players in their second or third seasons behind only DE Olivier Vernon (18.0) and DE Chandler Jones (17.5).
      • In his first season with the Lions after being drafted fifth overall, rookie DE Ezekiel Ansah led the team in sacks in 2013 with eight, the second most sacks by a Lions rookie since Suh had 10 in 2010.
      • Ansah recorded three multi-sack games, posting two sacks at Washington (9/22), vs. Tampa Bay (11/24) and vs. Green Bay (11/24). His eight sacks also led all NFL rookies.
      • DT Nick Fairley (6.0) and Suh (5.5) combined for 11.5 sacks last season and each recorded a safety. The Lions’ two safeties in 2013 are the most by the team since they had two in 2009.
      • Fairley’s six sacks were tied for eighth among all defensive tackles, and Suh ranked seventh among defensive tackles in combined sacks and tackles for loss on rushing plays with 11.5.
      • The Lions defensive line had their best outing of the season on Thanksgiving Day (11/28) vs. Green Bay, sacking Packers QB Matt Flynn seven times, forcing a fumble and recording a safety.
      • Rookie DE Devin Taylor also emerged as a valuable asset at defensive end as he finished the season with 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

I wondering if terminology will be an issue for the Dolphins players considering that these new coaches that are being hired are from the NFL and their past coaches for the most part were from Pee Wee Football?

This is the 2nd guy we've hired from the Lions that is often described as ''intense''.

            Already knowing Suh helps him.

Suh led all AFC defensive tackles in tackles for loss with 17 and was second in quarterback hits with 20.

Suh earned All-NFL and All-NFC honors from the PFWA with the Detroit Lions in both 2013 and 2014 while working with Washburn...

I absolutely love this hire! The Lions have traditionally had a nasty front seven, and getting this guy back together with Suh can only help...Now, if we can just get him & Suh some help it should be interesting!!

Other talents,, yeah...i think i'll leave that one alone...And yes, it definitely reminds us all of our own mortality, i mean hell, all of those guys were only in their 60's (late 60's i know, but still...) Also reminds me that i'm pretty sure i'll be lon-n-n-g gone, dead, buried & worm-food before the Miami Dolphins are ever relevant again, sig-h-h-h....

Meh... if Gase is the guy, he'll have us relevant in the next 2 seasons. If not, fk that 5 year deal. Shoulda been 3 regardless.

You can almost feel Philbin getting queasy over these hirings. "What the Hell are they doing down there? Those aren't nice guys they're hiring!" lol...

I bet he's concerned about them littering on the field and not making sure their jockstraps are all the way in the laundry baskets.....

And their lack of PowerPoint skill. Shocking. Just shocking.
