  • Jim Schwartz - Interviewing With Jags

I really wish the Dolphins would have pursued Jim Schwartz. I think he is exactly what this Dolphins defense needs.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A person familiar with the search says the Jacksonville Jaguars are interviewing former Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz for their vacant defensive coordinator position.
The person spoke to The Associated Press Monday on condition of anonymity because the Jaguars have not publicly announced details of the search.
Schwartz is interviewing Monday with coach Gus Bradley and others in Jacksonville. Schwartz is the third outside candidate to be interviewed, following Atlanta Falcons secondary coach Marquand Manuel and Miami Dolphins secondary coach Lou Anarumo. Manuel and Anarumo interviewed last week.

Shwartz turned us down in the middle of the season because he thought he would be a sought after head coach with all the potential openings at the time. Now that he knows no one was really interested for the highest position he is now settling for DC and I hear he is wanted by the Browns and Eagles as DC.

Gase panicked. Or, more likely his agent wanted to avoid the ONLY person on his staff with significant HC experience. Schwartz would have been the likely choice to succeed Gase when, at mid-season 2017 , Gase is unceremoniously removed as HC of YOUR Miami Dolphins.

Not a conspiracy theorist... Ross gave Philbin 4 years when he should have fired him at 2 years. He kept Ireland 1 year longer than he should have as well. I doubt he'd allow Gase to be fired at 1.5 seasons as he over-ruled Tbaum hiring Shanny for Gase.

Ross also blamed Peterson for Philbin and is stating that hiring Gase was a ''gut'' instinct. If anything, Gase is safe thru 2018. Especially if Tannehill fails to secure the QB position and Gase has to start over with a new QB.

None of this has anything to do with Schwartz, who is known to be abrasive ala Brian Billick, who also has never received new offers as a HC despite winning a SB.

        YMMV.

So we now hire on a "gut" instinct.....qualifications out the door....

And the worst part about the GUT INSTINCT is that it is coming from a real estate agent and NOT the guy he hired to run his football team. Yeah, that makes sense. The Dolphins are just a play toy to Ross. He would probably like to win and impress his friends IF ever any of his decisions pan out but we will never know if that is true because his instincts about football are horrible.

It was a dumpster fire and it made sense why he turned down the head coaching job in the MIDDLE of the season. Now that nobody has interviewed him for a HC job the Dolphins should have at least called him in to see if he was interested in a DC job. Ross is an idiot but he is a rich idiot and would probably have paid him pretty well. So, if Schwartz is willing to be the DC in Jacksonville he would have probably been okay with being the DC of Miami too.

Schwartz was a HC gig again. Jax is open as Gus has been underwhelming there and there's been more stability than here. He really should have taken our DC gig instead of Lou as he knows Suh and would have gotten more out of our defense and have been a candidate for HC. He hurt his own chances sitting out IMO.

I'm surprised at all the inexperienced HC hires and Experinced coaches such as Shanahan , Smith, Marrone all ended up with nothing.
