  • Vernon Hargreaves at #8

He is who most mock drafts seem to have us taking ever since the Jaylon Smith injury. Also I think Jalen Ramsey will be off the board when we select. I think we will release Brent Grimes so a DB will be our most crucial need and if Hargreaves is available at #8 he will probably be the BPA. So this is what I would do in the draft.

R1. DB Vernon Hargreaves - Immediate starter and an impact defensive player at a position of need.

R2. OG Cody Whitehair - He would replace Dallas Thomas at LG. He has the athleticism to play OT if needed but he should be a stud OG.

R3. ILB Kentrell Brothers - A tackling machine who will help improve our run defense.

R4. RB Alex Collins - I don't think we will resign Lamar Miller.

R5. LT Joe Haeg - He would replace Jason Fox as our primary backup OT.

R6. DE Silverberry Mouhon - He has some good pass rushing skills.

R7. WR Jordan Payton - He could make a decent #4 or #5 WR.

Personally, I hope to fix the OL in FA with vets instead of rookie projects. I hope to go DB and LB in the first 2 rounds. If we land Hargreaves and a stud ILB and DE though, I'll be ecstatic.

Cody Whitehair is not a project. I agree we should look to upgrade the o-line in free agency and the bulk of our draft should be used to address our defense. I would still however draft good o-linemen if they are available depending on who else is available at other positions.

I'm completely down with drafting BPA in each round. I'd just prefer to use FA on the OL.

I want to see who stays and go's and what happens in FA as there are so many holes. Hargreaves would be a good pick at #8 and I don't think as of now we could go wrong with any player at #8 but this is the Dolphins.

Love Hargreaves, love Florida's whole defense.

In the event Hargreaves or Ramsey are gone, who else would be a likely DB target? Thoughts on Mackensie Alexander?

I see a guy with high 1st round talent, who is a solid pick with both a high floor and high ceiling. Good, but not great size but he has a powerful build, speed, quicks, he's physical, competitive, and confident. Has the look of a potential shut down corner. He's an inch shorter than Hargreaves and 4 lbs lighter.

The more I see of him, the more I'm putting him up there with Hargreaves. I'd be happy with the pick, and I'm not so sure that he isn't the best CB coming out though he got lost in the wash of the Clemson Defense and then injured and was out against Alabama.

I'd love to draft the entire Clemson defense. Shaq Lawson and Mackensie Alexander either one would be an ideal 1st round pick for us. I could see us taking either guy if the event Ramsey and Hargreaves are both gone.

Mackensie Alexander is the next best option.

Based on the tap that i have seen so far...Ramsey is the legit prospect. He's basically the best player in this draft in terms of raw talent...Think Eric Berry/Sean Taylor.

HGroves and Alex are basically the next two players

Honestly there are carbon copies...with Alexander playing more physical whereas Groves plays with finesse

Agree on all accounts. Thanks for the feedback. I've seen Alexander mocked as high as #11 already with Ramsey and Hargreaves going in the Top 6.

One problem I have and have mentioned about drafting the BPA is that you have 5 or more guys rated within a point or so of each other. Anyone can easily make an argument of any of them being the BPA.

Yes, but you also weigh each position. DBs over DE over LB, etc...
