  • Commentary: MIAMI DOLPHINS NOW HIRING: NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Just published my take on the Gase hiring. Yeah you could say I am not a fan.

Get the latest Miami Dolphins news regarding players, games, trades and the draft.

Maybe the task of fixing the Oline with beasts are gonna be Tannabaums and Griers job. Have gase fix Tannehill and have the front office find the Oline. Defense, the rumor is Vance Joseph whom the Broncos wanted to hire as DC and Bengals refused. Especially he is a secondary minded coach.

Great read Matt but, I do disagree. I see the hiring of a new coach about the same as I do a draft pick. Tons of analysts, fans, etc, etc, have miles of info, good and bad, stats, and opinions.

IMO, none of that much matters, and you get LUCKY or, you do not. The same is true here with Case. He may be good, bad or, indifferent. We will not know for a couple of years.

I have seen this over many years and many teams choices. Ya roll the dice, and ya take your chances.

Great Read Matt but it was Mike Shula not David.
While it takes two to have an argument, it only takes one to walk away.

I agree with the article and Ross should of waited for the playoffs to be over with before making this decision.. we could of possibly lured Mike Shula from a winning organization and a proven winner.. This hire stems from Michigan ties with Ross and that makes it a irresponsible, desperate move...Better for Ross, not for the team or the fan base....

Agreed, This has Ross the Boss written all over it and we all know about his lack of Football knowledge.

I agree with this 100% & have been saying as much for some time; getting the right guy to become the next great NFL HC is nothing but a crapshoot,, the only thing you can do is use your data, your gut, and your supposed due diligence to make the best educated guess of which guy is right for your situation...

IMO, we as fans aren't as upset with the pick being Gase (We basically have no idea who Gase is) as we are with the process..Time after time we've gone after coaches with zero HC experience, time & time again we've failed..Just like Gase we've chased the hot commodity, can't miss OC (CaMORON), we failed..We never seem to learn from our mistakes; seems rational to think that if we at least admitted the same mistakes were being made & looked to avoid them, we'd at the very least maximize our chances of not doing the same dumb shit over & over and with a little luck finally succeed in landing a decent HC...

I think that is the point DP! This management group has proven they cannot evaluate a coach, so they MUST hire one that is already a proven winner. If you suck at evaluating draft picks, trade them for established NFL veterans. If you suck at hiring coaches, hire one that is already proven. I agree with Matt, this was based more on who the front office can control. They don't want a Shannahan standing in their face telling them they don't know what the F*** they are doing! This kid was intimidated by the press conference, can he handle an irate Suh?

This is just another in a long line of trying to find the up and coming diamond in the rough. Like Cam Cameron, like Tony Sparano, Like Joe Philbin. Funny thing is those guys had more mileage and reputation than Gase does. When we needed something big the most, we took the longest shot yet. Makes no sense.

I agree with everything you wrote. It has to be they were looking for someone they could control. They could not have failed that miserably at doing what they claimed they were going to do when the season ended. It was, once again, a bunch of lip service. This guy barely made it through a press conference surrounded by reporters. How is he gonna make it through an NFL season surrounded by 53 alpha males? I just keep thinking of Dave Shula when he was head coach of the Bengals. I feel like this is going to be the most disastrous of many disasters at head coach.
          Can we sign this guy?
