  • Gase.........

The fact that we struck 1st and got the guy we wanted is a HUGE DEAL! The last couple hires we were down on the list and fighting for the scraps after the "Highly Managed Franchises" got their guys 1st. I am not excited that we got Gase but I am excited that we made our choice & it was our 1st choice and it was Decisive and without looking like a bunch of Buffoons. With the likes of the Giants having a Manning and a more stable front office & all the other teams out there looking we got him.
So lets give the man some CONGRATS! and hopefully he can find a spot on this staff to keep Campbell around if he wants to stick around as the tightends really fell off when he went to the big chair.

Only time will tell. I'm glad we addressed two major issues with the hire. Our QB play and x's and o's. Gase excels in these two areas according to those who he's worked with. If true that's a win right there. As always glass is half full IMO.

We as fans are critical, and I can't stand the owner of the Dolphins but, They're my team, so I'm going with the " let's take a look" approach... I do like that it was quick and we're moving on to building the cast of coaches and the draft....I don't expect much this next season but I don't have a choice but to root for success... Go Phins! Have you seen the schedule next season???? We surly wont be in the playoffs

I'm starting to warm up. Maybe he can learn from his father in law who was the interim and also assistant head coach of the Saints.

I'm pissed that just last week Tannabum said they would leave no stone unturned and it would be a very through search which was obviously a LIE. They left plenty of stones unturned and it was a predetermined choice so why lie to the fans?? Same ole same ole in my book.
While it takes two to have an argument, it only takes one to walk away.

So how do you decide what is best for the team if you don't hear what everyone has to offer. This so called search was nothing but a ruse because they already had their minds made up.

Looked to me as if they interviewed a lot of people. I have no problem with the way this was handled

How do you know when Tannenbaum is lying? His lips are moving.

That's my problem. I actually like Gase and he was on my short list. My issue is once again Ross and his cronies feed us a line of bullshit about "changing the culture." Total BS, if you really wanted to change the culture you would have brought an experience HC that wasn't going to put up with an crap. Shanahan, Coughlin, M Smith, and even L Smith would have all been coaches that can change the culture. It's all about the hot names, and Tannebaum and his personal Madden game. I really hope it works, but the opening act sure looks like the same movie we have seen for the last 10 years. sure seems like we already know the ending...

Exactly!! It's Ground Hog Day.............they keep switching the lead actor from Bill Murray to Sparano to Philbin to Campbell to Gase but it's still the same movie with the same ending, the Dolphins being the joke of the league and the fans wasting their time, energy and money into a team that has an owner who doesn't have the first clue about football or how to build a winning organization.

Exactly what I was saying Shane. This was once again a ruse and I fell for it once again.

Somehow, I knew this would turn out bad. Didn't surprise me. Lying bastards....

Someone tell me what Gase has done to earn this high regard? He coached Peyton Manning??? Does anyone coach Manning???
            This is an utter disaster

It's not like Gase hasn't done well. Yes he coached Manning a year, it just happened to be one of if not the best years Manning had and that was after his neck surgery and had no arm strength. He also coached Cutler to on of if not his bets statistical year. This in a year where his top receiver was in and out of the lineup all year with injuries, his top rookie receiver missed the entire year. his top RB missed a lot of the year, and multiple injuries along the offensive line.

You can't look at the overall picture of the Bears this past year to see what Gase did. You have to drill down and look at the situation. As I said, I do like Gase, just would have preferred an experienced HC. I am interested to see what kind of staff he puts together. If in fact Joseph is his first hire I am not impressed.

Doesn't much matter what, if or how much Gase helped (or didn't help) the meteoric rise of Tim Tebow, the improvement of HOFer PM or the honing of Cutler's game to transition him from shitty to just crappy...Whatever his influence on any of these guys was done as an OC,, his resposibilities will now be as a HC, and that's a whole different animal altogether...

IMO, if anyone is expecting him to come in and work magic with Tannehill with the weight of everything else a HC is accountable for on his shoulders, they're kidding themselves..Sparano; O-Line guru, Philbin pretty much the same; they get HC gigs and look at the O-Lines...Wish in one hand, shit in the other and see which one fills up faster....

Miami Herald reports Ross flew out to pick up Gase for his interview Thursday. Decision was also made Thursday. No stone left unturned my ass...

Lets just give Gase a chance. No matter who we hired, there is no guarantee of success. Remember Don Shula was once the youngest HC in the NFL.

What a novel concept FTL - bravo for being the voice of reason. Best post about Gase I've seen so far.

Not like we really have a choice; all we can do is give it a chance..unfortunately that's what we've pretty much been doing since Shula was removed from office....

I like the decision. To take a retread like Shanahan, Smith or anyone else would have been the gaffe. I am not thrilled with the choice, but then again no one on the list made me happy either. Let's hope we found the next Shula.
