Dave Hyde of the Sun Sentinel wonders if the Dolphins can get their latest coaching search correct.
Morning take: The team has failed at prior coaching searches, so this search will be met with skepticism. Dolphins vice president Mike Tannenbaum says no stone will be unturned in this search.
It certainly seems like they are doing just that.
While it takes two to have an argument, it only takes one to walk away.
I have no idea what they are doing. I hope it turns out well! Just seems so many names. It's like pick a card, any card
You need to remember how things used to be when Ireland was here. NOBODY wanted to come to Miami. The Dolphins would call head coaching candidates up and they would say, "NO THANKS!" and never bother to take an interview with the team. Right now the Miami Dolphins have every available head coaching candidate interested in coming to Miami. Things have changed with this organization. They have been small changes but changes for the better nonetheless. Hopefully this time around they will be able to land Coach Don Shula's replacement and stop this constant search for a head coach that can win and stay in Miami for a long time.

I don't agree with a lot of what Joe Theissmann says but I do agree with what he said on the Joe Rose Show recently. When hiring a Head Coach, you better take into serious consideration who his coordinators will be because he will no longer be doing the hands on position coaching or coordinating like he was doing before. The coordinators will be carrying out the game plans. This Head Coach has to be able to press through the stench of the past and solidify a winning culture where there has been only failure in recent memory. For that reason I am much more in favor of a Shanahan or Coughlin than I am an Adam Gase. We desperately need leadership and a seasoned guy who can bring proven NFL men with him to a place where many coaches fear to tread.

Yup! As most know a HC is only as good as his coordinator's or the staff he surrounds himself with..I agree with your assessment about Gase (All of a sudden he's the hot-name being tossed around but i remember the exact same thing happening with the Chargers OC Cam CaMORON), i almost think it's vital that the next HC have some HC experience, though if we do decide to go the other route i'd rather have a defensive minded coach; seems to me that they make the transition to HC a bit easier..
I remember when Romeo Crennel was going to be the best HC ever....."hot-name tossed around=a bunch of ESPN and NFL Network idiots who have no idea what they're talking about"
yeah, he was an awful HC..I'm surprised it wasn't us instead of the Browns who hired him, though i guess the Fins & the Browns are like twin sons from different mothers! Guys like CaMORON & Crennel and a million other of the next hottest thing going guys constantly prove that being a great OC or DC has nothing to do with how good a HC you're gonna be...
I think above all, Miami needs to be decisive this time. Quickly determine who you want and go get them. None of this stumbling around, getting rejected, being used for leverage crap.
Knowing Miami, they'll hire a HC and then have him conduct the rest of the HC interviews already scheduled (including Dan Campbells) figuring it wouldn't look good to leave those guys hanging...
