The Dolphins beat the Patriots !

The Patriots do NOT get home field advantage through the playoffs.

The Patriots have a terrible record in the playoffs when they do not have home field advantage and rarely make it to the Super Bowl when they don't have home field advantage.

The Jets lost and did NOT make the playoffs.

The Dolphins won today, and will move up the draft board and miss out on a top 10 pick. BUT, with the win today, will that possibly increase their odds of landing a big name head coach? I mean, a potential head coach might look at the TEAM and realize there is talent, they just need better coaching to win. Just a thought.

Looks like Miami is going to be picking #9. Joe let me know in another thread and looking around that's what it's looking like, so the win didn't move them back as far as I was thinking. At #9 they can still get and impact day one starter.

There will definitely be a day one starter at #9, as long as there isn't any ridiculous Ireland-esque moves. AHA ( Smith, White, Lynch , etc. )

Not so fast friend. Denver needs to beat the Chargers or NE still has home field.

Also good news is that if we're picking 9th, there are 8 teams worse than us.

The win today was not that costly we only move down from #7 to #9. If the Pats don't go to the Superbowl it was worth it. The fact that the Jets season is over just like ours is very sweet.

Actually it looks like we will be drafting at #8 so the win only cost us one spot.

At 9 they should still have a good shot at landing Miles Jack or the CB from Florida. Jaylon Smith will slide due to the knee injury so they could also trade back and get Smith or the ILB from Bama. 9 is a good spot and we can end the season feeling good about our young WRs.

Their is no good news. We drop from top 5 to 8-9? that's a draft pick lost in a move down trade from 5 to 8 on draft day. So we hang are hopes that the Pats don't get home field. Losers like to drag others down instead of ascending. No big name coach is coming to Miami with their in house GM selection. OMF I can't believe you guys. Hey let's buy SB tickets were 1 player away.

I feel your pain, Hawk. I know where this post is coming from, my friend. IF the Dolphins front office had a reputation of hitting home runs in the draft then I would be on the same page as you are. However, they have done little to nothing while picking in the low part of the draft for a decade or so. They might miss out on Jack or Ramsey but they will still be in position to draft a day one starter at LB or CB.............and if things go my way they will draft a QB with one of their first two draft picks. :-)

If we had lost we would have gotten the #6 pick since the 49ers won. They were the only team ahead of us that won today. Is there really a big difference between #6 and #8?

yes. If a player drops out of the top five. you are there to pick him up at 6 or trade down because you have that player. At 8 you get that player if he is injured or a drug dude. Not because he falls past 6-7 pick.

We are now going to win SUPERBOWLS!!!
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross sees Super Bowls, plural

The Dolphins haven’t even won a playoff game since 2000, a span that goes far beyond the time which Stephen Ross has owned them.
But Ross was confident Sunday, after beating the Patriots to reach a 6-10 record, that success is on the horizon.
“I told the players that I really believe,” Ross said, via Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post. “For those who stay, we’re going to be winning Super Bowls. If you look at our organization today, you see what we’ve done.
“From every aspect except the playing field, we’re probably the first class organization in the National Football League.”
Yeah, about that. The Dolphins haven’t had a winning record since 2008, Ross’s first year with his name on the letterhead. And they’re in the midst of their latest coaching search and reorganization, after hiring college scouting head Chris Grier to serve as their new General Manager under Mike Tannenbaum.
Ross wouldn’t rule out his interim coach either, saying: “I love Dan Campbell. I think he’s great.” He also said he wanted to make a hire “sooner than later,” noting that plenty of teams were looking for coaches.

I read that and OMG why doesn't the "handler" of Ross get fired! Oh, that's going to help your image Ross! Keep him away from the press at ALL times!

Why can I envision Ross playing the part of the Scarecrow and singing "If I only had a brain"?

Any day we can beat the Pats is a good day for me but when it cost the Pats home field advantage throughout the playoffs?? It's a frickin great day. Draft position be damned. You want to call me a loser for that go for it.

I enjoyed every bit of yesterday, including my braggy Pats fan friend sitting with me sad faced and unable to yell GRONK! all day. **** the Pats. All Hail Miami.

I'm with you. We're drafting #8, we beat the Hell out of Brady and we fkd the Pats in the playoffs. Great win and a great day. I could care less about any negative whining.
