Sean McDermott - I like everything I read about this guy. I like that he is a defensive coordinator for arguably the best defense in the NFL. I like that he was in personnel prior to coaching. I like that he is young and hungry. I like that he is a fierce competitor and a firery coach (similar to Campbell with a better pedigree IMO).

I like that he is young and stays at places a long time. Shows loyalty. Doesn't matter to me that he worked the personnel side. Coaches should only coach and be damn good at motivating and teaching.

I agree Aquaaiea, but I do like the fact that he can challenge a scout or personnel person if he doesn't see the same talent on tape that the GM does (i.e. Pat White)..

I like McDermott but I think Mike Shula is a better fit for our younger Offense. Plus I think he can bring in a better coaching staff overall... Who ever it is, it's going to be a challenge with this top heavy ,shooting from the hip organization.. There lies the problem....

I say that we all meet in the middle here and hire Mike Shula as HC and Jim Schwartz as DC and then we all get what we want, correct? :-)

I don't think Schwartz wants a DC role. I think he wants a HC job. I would have no problem with Shula/Schwartz combo. Schwartz is a hell of a DC. I almost could handle him as HC for that reason. As bad as Detroit stunk under him it wasn't a bad defense, and he had a great defense with the Bills. Better than what Rex put on the field.

Yeah, I know that will never happen but as a Dolphins fan if you don't have dreams, you have reality, which is a nightmare. Schwartz won't come to Miami. I can't see any big name coach coming to Miami as long as Ross is the owner and Tannenbaum is allowed to overspend on players that he wants to use to inflate his ego with. I love the Dolphins but I wouldn't want to coach a team where a guy like that gets to pick my players and my reputation hangs in the balance from his decisions. Hickey will probably get fired and he hasn't done anything wrong. The Dolphins will more than likely be signing a young, hungry coach who has a bit of a name but doesn't want full control and is willing to deal with Tannenbaum.

I like McDermott, but you will be waiting for him and could lose out on other candidates. Now they could interview him during the bye week. I like the thought of McDermott as HE and bringing Dorset in as the OC. I know Shula gets the credit for Cam, but I think DORSET HAS HAD A LOT TO DO WITH HIS DEVELOPMENT?
