  • FIRST-PICK.COM ( Draft Game )

There is a website that has a pretty fun Draft Game that some of us used to play on the Phinatics forum. It takes about 30-45 seconds to register and then you can start drafting against the other 31 team owners. It has the players draft rankings, Miami's draft position is at #7 right now and it will give you grades on each pick and a final score on your completed draft.

I will go do a mock draft right now and post it below when I am finished to give you an idea of how this works.

Your score is: 7557 (GRADE: A)

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 7: Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis (A+)
Round 2 Pick 7: Kentrell Brothers, ILB, Missouri (B)
Round 3 Pick 7: Landon Turner, OG, North Carolina (A+)
Round 4 Pick 7: Deion Jones, OLB, LSU (A+)
Round 5 Pick 7: D.J. White, CB, Georgia Tech (A-)
Round 6 Pick 7: Cyrus Jones, CB, Alabama (A)
Round 7 Pick 7: Romeo Okwara, DE/OLB, Notre Dame (A+)
Round 7 Pick 8: Pearce Slater, OT, San Diego State (B)

    Give It A Try, It's Fun !!

I can't believe they still have Lynch on the board at #7, every early mock i've seen so far has him going either 1 or 2...

How do you make your draft selections on that site? I picked the Dolphins as the team I am drafting for but then nothing happened. All it did was just show the scores of previous mock drafts.

              You sign in.
              Click "Play Draft Game 2016"
              Click "New Draft"
Use the drop-down menu to select the Dolphins
              Click "Select Team"
Then you are in the middle of a draft and the team who draft first is On The Clock (The Titans are on the clock)

Now you can propose a trade with them, skip one pick at a time OR just skip to the Dolphins pick

Once you get to the Dolphins pick you can look at each player by their position OR you can click on Best Value Remaining and select the top player on the board at a particular position.

Okay - last one from me - but this went almost perfectly. Would slightly prefer Devon Johnson at RB....

Without any trades I came up with this draft and the grades they gave me.

                    R1. DE Emmanuel Ogbah A
                    R2. ILB Kentrell Brothers B
                    R3. RB Alex Collins A-
                    R4. DB Briean Boddy-Calhoun A
                    R5. OG Christian Westerman A-
                    R6. QB Nate Sudfeld A
                    R7. WR Jordan Payton A+
                    R7. OT Pearce Slater B

Jaylon Smith was off the board in the first round thats why I chose Ogbah. I chose Collins in the 3rd round with the thinking that we won't resign Miller.

Alpha is winning the secret contest of highest draft score. I am not sure that DE is a big need with all these holes that need to be filled so I am hoping the BPA is NOT a defensive end. I am obviously hoping it will be a QB but if not my next positions I am wanting are ILB, CB, OLB, OG, OT, etc. I am just guessing that the new front office will address some of the o-line problems in free agency.

You don't think DE is a big need? Wake probably won't be back and OV is a free agent who we might decide not to resign. Also Shelby is a Free Agent. We haven't had much of a pass rush the past several games. I think DE is a huge need. I would rather spend money in free agency on the o-line and address the defense in the draft. I agree we have needs at QB ILB DB OLB OG OT and also FS but DE is also a need.

As regards the O-Line, The Fins have picked up over 10 via FA in the last 5 years, all gone, injured or past their prime. Dallas did it in the draft, as must the Dolphins. The ONLY guy I'd trade for is Joe Thomas. Guys like DE's can be had in FA, such as Mario Williams. Cam Wake came that way...sort of, out of the CFL. When teams let go of O-Lineman, they know something they don't disclose to the unwary team that picks him up. Respectfully, Drafting a RB is, IMO insane. Many teams find them as undrafted FA, such as Arian Foster. Get both lines, LB, and safety/corner settled first.

Here is another mock draft and Jaylon Smith was already taken again.

                        R1. DB Vernon Hargreaves A
                        R2. QB Carson Wentz A-
                        R3. OG Greg Pyke A
                        R4. ILB Dominique Alexander A
                        R5. DE Charles Tapper A
                        R6. DB Cyrus Jones A
                        R7. RB Aaron Green A+
                        R7. DT DJ Reader A-

Nooo.......don't get me wrong I do think the Dolphins need to address the DE position but I don't think they need to use one of their top picks on the position with SO MANY other needs, and considering that they can restructure Wake's contract and work out a deal with Vernon. I don't think Vernon had as good of a season as he would have liked so he can't demand too much money. No team is going to pay him what he thinks he worth. I think the Dolphins can get him back, as long as he is realistic. I have no problem letting him go. The Dolphins pass rush is a problem and they can't stop the run, but they also can't cover either. I am anticipating the Dolphins letting Grimes go one way or another so I think they may need to draft TWO cornerbacks, two linebackers and "try" and fill all their other needs in free agency and the draft. It's not going to happen in one offseason but I think they should start at their key positions, Maybe you're correct and they should start in the trenches. Hopefully it will be a fun and exciting offseason for the Dolphins fans, since we can't enjoy the regular season at least they can put together a fun offseason that we can all enjoy.
