  • Good news, Bad news...

Good news is that with the loss to the Colts today i believe we moved up to the 7th spot on the draftboard..the bad news is that unless the Chargers beat the Broncos, or the Cowboys beat the Redskins, or the 49ers and Ravens beat the Rams & Bengals, that's about as high as we're gonna climb.............Hell, knowing our luck this is where the Fins will finally decide to win an AFC East game, beat the Patriots and fall about 6 or 7 spots...

Awesome I like 7!!! I doubt we beat the Pats cause no matter who wins MNF the Pats have to win in order to secure home field.

The Ravens beating the Steelers allowed us to move up to the 7th spot. The Jets beating the Pats today was good because it means the game next week will be meaningful for them. I think the Cowboys could beat the Redskins next week since that is a meaningless game for the Redskins and I think the 49ers could beat the Rams next week so I think its possible the Dolphins might climb to 6th or 5th if we lose next week. Here are the current draft positions.

      1. Tennessee 3-12
      2. Cleveland 3-12
      3. San Diego 4-11
      4. Dallas 4-11
      5. San Francisco 4-11
      6. Jacksonville 5-10
      7. Miami 5-10

With Super Bowl 50 in the books, the order for the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft is set. This is the first-round order, with the top positional needs for every team, as provided by Lance Zierlein.

Here's the latest Bill where we are at #6. The top tie breakers are record and strength of schedule, which is different than playoff tie breakers.

It really doesn't matter where we draft as long as the same people are doing talent evaluations and drafting. This team is void of talent because those at the top and scouting level don't have a ****ing clue. So until that changes it does not matter where we draft!!!!!!!!!

That site did not take into account the Jags loss today to the Saints.

Jax still has the stronger SOS

Yeah but we play the Pats next week and they play the Texans next week so if we both lose I think we will then have the stronger SOS.

All the other teams we both played matter as well, not just those two. No way to project what may happen at this point.

if 9ers and Cowboys win which is a real possibility we can move up to 5! Wouldn't that be something.

It looks to me as if the Dolphins will be drafting a linebacker in the 1st round no matter where they are drafting. I will still remain hopeful that whomever it is that is in charge of the draft (Tannenbaum, Hickey, new head coach, etc) will know that they need to draft a quarterback. This team will go nowhere without a new field general. I am hoping that there will be some really good o-linemen available in free agency so the Dolphins don't need to use too many picks on that position.

If we are drafting in the #5 to #7 range then I hope we draft either DB Vernon Hargreaves or LB Jaylon Smith. DB and LB are our 2 biggest needs. DE and the O-line are also huge needs as well. I would definitely draft a QB also.

Things are going to be really interesting going forward. It's going to be really nice when we know exactly where the Dolphins will be drafting, which we will know around this time next week. Then, it will be fun to see how the college players ranks now and how certain players rise and fall from now until draft day. As we both know players in the 1st round right now can drop to the 3rd, and players in the 3rd or 4th can creep up into the 1st round somehow. It's fun though. I look forward to reading your mock drafts. Creating mock drafts with you is more entertaining then watching the Dolphins these days. AHA

I am really hoping that somehow Connor Cook falls into the 2nd round and the Dolphins draft him there, after drafting the best LB or CB on the board. That would be the perfect scenario for me but I have a feeling the Dolphins will be drafting something like Jaylon Smith in the 1st and then Desmond King in the 2nd round.

Yes it will be interesting to see what happens after we see where the Dolphins will be drafting at this time next week. I can't imagine that we will win next week so it should be somewhere between #5 and #7 depending on if we get some help or not. I know what you mean about how some players will rise and some will fall between now and draft time.

It will be interesting to see how well Connor Cook performs in his playoff game or games. That will probably go a long way towards determining whether he will be a first or a second round pick. His overall numbers this season were not impressive and he was not impressive against Iowa in the Big 10 Championship game either.

Paxton Lynch and Jared Goff will both probably be taken in the top 10 although its possible that both, one or neither of them will be available to us depending on how things play out. I know the NFL is a QB driven league but even if you have a great QB that does not guarantee success if you don't have a good team around them. Also you can get a good QB later in the draft, you don't necessarily have to use a high draft pick to get one although it does increase your odds of getting a good QB, but look at the 2012 draft. Tannehill was drafted #8 overall. Wilson was drafted in the 3rd round and Cousins was drafted in the 4th round.

I just feel like the best way for us to start becoming competitive again is to build up our defense and o-line while also addressing the QB position in both the 2016 and 2017 drafts. Even if we draft Connor Cook we would not be any better of a team if we don't improve our defense and our o-line.

Of course we have to have smart football people making good personnel decisions and hire a good coach who knows what he is doing or nothing else will matter. This is a critical offseason for the Dolphins. We have to get it right, if not that will set us back another 4 years. We basically have just wasted the last 4 years with the Philbin hire and drafting Tannehill and really its more than that since Tannehill will likely be back next year and we still don't have our QB of the future yet.

                    Great Post!

Please don't misunderstand what I am posting about. I know this team is in a rebuilding phase now. They are not one player away from being competitive. They must rebuild the entire team from the ground up. There are only about three players who are really worth keeping around. So, adding a quarterback won't help the Dolphins get to the playoffs or a anything. I just feel that they really need to take advantage of this draft position while they can. In my opinion if they are drafting in the top 5 I think they need to start building on this teams indentity, a face if the organization, and that "face" should either be a quarterback or middle linebacker.

They could just build a strong defense while they let Tannehill play out his contract, while filling in as many holes as possible. Either way we are looking at another rebuilding year. We seem to be in a rebuilding year more then any other team in the league. It's disheartening.
