  • How about this offseason plan

    Free Agency

DB Janoris Jenkins - Rams - He is only 27 and is one of the better younger corners in the NFL. Let Grimes go which will free up $6.5 million.

FS Tashaun Gipson - Browns - He is only 25 and one of the best ballhawking safeties in the NFL.

OG JR Sweezy - Seahawks - He is only 26 and better than any OG we currently have.

TE Zach Miller - Bears - He has been more productive than Jordan Cameron and he won't cost nearly as much. Release Cameron and save $7.5 million.

DE Olivier Vernon - We can't afford to let him go. He is our 3rd best defensive player behind Suh and Jones and only 25 years old. Release Wake and that will save about $7 million.

DE Derrick Shelby - A good rotational DE and he won't break the bank.

    Draft

Round 1 LB Jaylon Smith - Notre Dame - The kind of dynamic LB who can give our defense a boost.

Round 2 DB Cameron Sutton - Tennessee - He should pair with Jenkins as our starting DB's in a revamped secondary.

Round 3 DE Bronson Kaufusi - BYU - He would probably start opposite OV.

Round 4 OT Joe Dahl - Washington State - He would provide depth as a rookie and replace Jason Fox.

Round 5 QB Brandon Doughty - Western Kentucky - We know we need to draft a QB to at least give Tannehill some competition.

Round 6 RB Shock Linwood - Baylor - We probably can't afford to resign Miller so Ajayi becomes our feature back and Linwood will be the #2.

Round 7 C/OG Matt Hegarty - Oregon - Some depth for our o-line.

I think a better off season plan would be for the last person out of the Davie facility on January 4, after the complete asswooping by the Pats, to just set fire to the place. Then all the overpaid panzies can go out in the real world and work for a living.

I think you would have a hard time paying for all of those free agents under our cap.

If we restructure Suh's contract and release the players I suggested its not so far fetched. Maybe Shelby would have to be left off but I think we could afford the rest.

The biggest question mark this offseason is WHO will be making the final decisions when it comes to player personnel.

That's working under the assumption that any self-respecting homeless person would want our Miami Dolphins garbage..I'm sure even homeless people have standards!

Suh's entire $28M is fully guaranteed with the $5M in his pro-rated signing bonus. His $15M in 2017, as well as his $22M in 2018, is also fully guaranteed. I would take the hit next year, along with Tannehill, and wait a year before thinking re-structures.

I do not see cap space as any problem next year. We can pretty much free up whatever we want. We are going to have a whole new coaching staff and maybe FO. There is no way in hell they are going to turn the team around in a year. They could possibly want to make drastic changes to a 3-4 or power blocking, and want their own players. No one knows for sure.

The new staff are going to take a year to evaluate players, regardless of scheme, to sort out who's who to a degree. We free up $40M in addition to the $10M carry over and pick and choose some young talent to build with. If a player is not going to be part of 2017, they should not be taking up playing time from a younger player who might. I doubt Ross is going to agree with this as it will not be pretty but, it is the right way to go.

Also, remember that in FA the first year is always cheap. Suh, Tannehill, and Pouncey cost a combined $18M this year. We don't need the cap space in 2016 but a direction. IF we get that, the re-structuring,etc can be worth a whole lot more in 2017.

Anything will be better than what they did last off season.. No depth on a weak oline, no secondary, no real core LB'ers.....For years! And yet they Draft a WR that had almost zero production: a FA that they sold the farm for while the QB and the Run game suffer, Can't stop the run, can't tackle, can't defend the pass.. None of it made any sense and complete stupidity... I can keep going and if you think it was a smart draft last season you might want to re-evaluate your own football knowledge...

I totally agree. And, I am not buying into this BS about "He will be an elite player down the road." Since when do teams waste 1st round draft picks on players that will be good "some day." First round draft picks are supposed to be immediate impact players, period. The Dolphins didn't need another WR and they certainly didn't need one with an injury. Yes, years from now the Dolphins will probably reap the rewards from this draft but the morons who drafted him won't be around to enjoy it. As you mentioned, the front office ignored holes that many people on this forum could see but somehow they could not. I don't want to hear how the guys in the front office have more experience then we do because they sure don't show it. I would much rather have a front office filled with some of the fans from this forum then their current guys.
