  • Mike Florio (PFT) ~ It's time for Ross to move to Miami or sell the team

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...sell-the-team/

I can't stand Florio (Avid Fins-Hater from way back when) BUT i agree with this..Sometimes it just feels like Ross looks at owning an NFL franchise as a hobby or like playing with a shiny new toy...Well, now that the toy's not shiny or new anymore..maybe it's time to pass it on!

We could have an owner who just wants to collect the shared funds and not spend money.

He should hire a fan from every well run blog forum as a board of directors. Let them (us) manage the team. A team of fans would bring better judgement than one hired gun.

Ross hired Tbaum back in Jan/Feb to take over the team. Give Tbaum an entire off-season before making these sort of claims.

Personally, I'd prefer to have Ross stay as far away from the team as possible. He brings nothing to the equation getting personally involved and quite the opposite - his personal relationship with Philbin contributed largely to the shape the team is in currently.

There's no doubt that Ross is willing to open his checkbook; that's never been an issue..The problem is that as an absentee owner he needs to put the proper football people in place to run the organization and so far he has failed miserably..Worse than that he's loyal to a fault which while highly commendable in some walks of life it's pretty much the curse of death in a business like the NFL..He either wants to hold no one accountable, or continue to give them the benefit of the doubt for years while the whole organization crumbles around his feet..Not sure why everyone else sees it, but he seems clueless to the fact!

I'm not asking that the guy be a Dan Snyder, just that he knows what's going on within his billion dollar franchise...As i said, i think he's loyal to a fault and doesn't know when to cut bait & move on...As far as Tannenbaum goes, i'm more than willing to give him the offseason to see how things transpire..I just wish we'd clean house , start with a clean slate & no more half-measures...

I don't think owners are that important as long as they proper mgt and coaching for the team. Prior to this year, Ross tried to be directly involved and make decisions based on the advice of the consultants he brought in - Parcells, Mangini, Peterson, etc... He fked up listening to Peterson and hiring Philbin, then creating a mess with the FO by having everyone report directly to him and not to the GM.

Hiring Tbaum as the VPO/Czar was his graceful bowing out. I don't think it matters where Ross lives at this point. It's all on Tbaum, who is in SoFL and running the show. I just Tbaum gets it right with the FO structure, scouting, GM, FAs, draft, and new coaches.

Guy I feel bad for is Dan Campbell. He inherited the mess Philbin made and Philibin's staff and roster. He's learning OJT, but I like that he's firing guys and not sticking with them just cause. Some better depth and some better talent on the OL, LB, and DB and I think we're a playoff team next season regardless of Ross or who the HC is.

              YMMV.

Some valid points, though i'm wondering if Ross should've stuck to real estate..He must hate our defense since every week we give away large chunks of real estate!

I don't really feel bad for DC other than he signed up with this franchise in the first place...As i've stated before, if he wouldn't have been 'promoted' (Hard to type that with a straight face!) to interim HC, it's not like he would've gotten an interview for any HC vacancy (including ours) around the league when they give this whole team a much-needed enema here in a few weeks...I like the guy & i like his style,, who knows?? the next HC may keep him as TE's coach...

lol... yes. I often hate most of this team myself... and hate that I love this damn team at all.

I think DC's style is exactly what we need moving forward, but we lack key pieces. Hoping Tbaum and Hickey find them this off-season. Hate being the Browns/Lions ''South''.

I think if I read that Ross sold the team it would be the greatest Dolphins news that I read since the signing of Dan Marino.

Ross is a terrible owner. He's also a terrible liar. He's NOT a Miami Dolphins fan. No Dolphins fan would try and purchase any other team, especially one who is or was in the AFC East. He didn't purchase the team because he loves the Dolphins, he purchased the team because he had the money and thought he could make some new friends, possibly celebrity friends and athlete friends, and now he is just cashing in the checks while ruining this franchise. He hires people to :"run the team" but he just can't stay away. He is always "away" but he does enough to make friendships that help ruin the team. He kept Ireland around too long and then did the same thing with Philbin. He will do the same thing AGAIN with Tannenbaum. I am tired of his NY connections!! The Dolphins are located in Miami NOT New York. I guarantee Mangini will be getting a serious look this offseason. If that idiot gets hired I am done with this organization until Ross sells the team.

This article has some of the same things I said on the old forum. Ross needs to retire from real estate and finish his years out in Miami. I'm not saying Ross needs to be a Jerry Jones type but he needs to be in the FO so he doesn't have to have a hundred people in his ear ON THE SIDE of making million/billion dollar real estate decisions. Being in Miami most of the time would allow Ross to constantly see whats going on, who's working hard, what's failing and being more active in the Miami community. Ross can see first hand, face to face, how this FO has failed to field good teams and make clear decisions on who stays and who goes instead of listening to hundreds of opinions in the organization and outside the organization over a conference call.

With all due respect I have to disagree. Ross is incapable of separating his business relations from his personal ones. He is the only person in America who hasn't seen the Godfather. In my opinion he needs to stay FURTHER away from Miami and STOP making decisions about this team. He hired Tannenbaum for a reason. He needs to allow the guy he hired to run the team, run the team. He needs to stay out of all things football, because he is clueless and gets attached to people for personal reasons and then doesn't want to fire them when it's clear to everyone else that the guy who he is friends with needs to be fired. (Ireland, Philbin, etc) I am not a fan of Tannenbaum. he has way too many ties to NY and that I don't care for. If he can prove he can find other people who are not affiliated to the Jets and NOT overspend in free agency so he can get his name on the front page, I might start to be okay with him running the Dolphins. Until then I will not be a fan anytime soon.

He has Gloria Estefan down here in Miami keeping an eye on things for him. She is a part owner of the Dolphins, knows as much about football as Tannenbaum and the other mindless twits in the front office, She can also speak Spanish, and that helps a lot!. Ross even had an honor Tebow Day down here a couple of years ago, which should have inspired the Dolphins to win the Super Bowl. When that didn't work, Philbin put on a white Tuxedo, and sang Rap songs, and that didn't work either. What else can Ross do???

At this point I almost wish he would move the team to LA so I would have a good reason to cut all loyalty to the team and NFL football for that matter.

That wouldn't work for me. They could move to China and I'd still follow this team. I must be a glutton for punishment.

Exactly! Not only is Ross so disconnected from the team but he's even more disconnected to the city of Miami and the fan base.

yeah, i've felt this way before...Then we can be awarded an expansion team in a few years & start fresh! Seems like this franchise is cursed ever since we pissed the Football Gods off by going undefeated (Or maybe it's just mercury Morris that pisses 'em off!)

I don't think it matters where Ross lives. I think what matters is that he hires the right football people who know what they are doing and will build a winner. Unfortunately I don't think he will fire Tannenbaum which means the results on the football field won't change.

I don't care where Ross lives either. I want him as far from the organization as possible. What I do want is while he is far from the team geographically, I would also like him to be far from the team in every other aspect too. He just can't seem to keep his big nose and bigger ears out of the Dolphins affairs. He is more into hanging out with the ex-players and celebrity owners then he is to staying away from All Things Football and allow the people he hires to make the important decisions. I'm sure he wouldn't want Tannenbaum advising him on real estate deals so why should Tannenbaum or anyone else listen to what he has to say about anything football related. I would really love it if he sold the team, THAT would be in every fans best interest. I think I am going to call Trump up and ask him for a loan. I will draft up with a proposal this morning and send it over to his people and I will let you guys know what happens.
