  • Tannehill- A Different View

Tannehill had a horrible game and no sane fan would dispute that. Since I consider myself mostly sane, I will also agree.

However, he was dealing with his third OC in this his 4th year, and this time the scheme was changed to a run heavy O, take more snaps under center, and he can now audible.

We have all seen Big Ben and Peyton really struggle with scheme changes after having a full camp to adapt but Ryan gets less than a week to basically change everything he has been doing for over a year and a half with someone who has never called plays, let alone been an OC.

    I cannot judge anything here.

As bad as the oline has been and rotation of coaches, I think this whole year should be thrown out as far as judging RT. No QB in the league or history of the NFL could have been productive this year in our offense that right now only has two NFL quality oline starters playing.

All good points, I am still on the fence, his accuracy isn't where I feel it should be....

But, this could possibly be the worse team Miami has put out, with all the changes this year, I'm really surprised the players are still trying....

I'm just ready to scrap the year, get a new HC and we had better make the next 5 drafts A+ or we'll be in deep dodo

I wanted to give you a "qualified LIKE" haha. While I agree with you that Tannehill has had to deal with, at best a mediocre O-Line, he's had excellent receivers. Still, on all too many occasions he just flat out MISSES wide open receivers even when he's not pressured. Why he's not doing as my ROY (before the season started) prediction Marcus Mariota does is beyond me. Tanny is capable of huge gains with his legs, and it would actually give the O-Line the feeling that they can hold their blocks , but if they fail, all is not lost. Tanny does basically NOTHING to inspire his teammates. Right now (as I live here in the Nashville area) Mariota is already better than Tannehill. Mike Mularkey, their interim coach is VERY good with QBs. The Dolphins game was an aberration, as Wisenhunt was already one butt cheek out the door.

I agree. It's time to stop making excuses for him and start to look towards the future that does not have him as the "franchise quarterback." This experiment has been going on for four years and it's a failure. I would love to see what he can do behind a stout offensive line, with great receivers, etc. but I truly believe that it wouldn't matter all that much. He would play better behind a GREAT offensive line, but he would still sail footballs out of bounds, he would still make poor decisions, he would still make all the mental errors he is currently making. Those mental errors can't be blamed on anyone but the quarterback. He is athletic but rarely, if every, helps out his offensive line. (As you stated) I thin Pouncey has given up on him because he makes the o-line look horrible. The o-line is terrible but Tannehill makes them look worse then they already are and I believe that the offensive line, among others, have noticed and will start to voice their opinions on this soon.
