No. I am not completely given up on Tannehill. Ask me that question at the end of the season after I see the last 5 games. I want to be 100% convinced that he was the reason for the horrendous play calling rather than Lazor being a control freak. Now that Tannehill has some influence and accountability on what plays are run and the offensive game plans going in we should get a glimpse of what Tannehill thinks he can succeed at. This will give us a glimpse of whether our offense can score with a different game plan.

Both Houston and Tennessee have played well since we thumped them. Did they suddenly improve after that game, or did the fact that we had an effective run game (which allowed play action to be successful) make that big a difference in our offense? To me this team has proven that if it can run the ball, control a little clock to allow the defense to catch it's breath they can score. We scored the most points in the NFL those two weeks with a balance between run and pass. That is the offense I hope to see Tannehill running the rest of the season.

Either way, Brees is showing his age. I would rather draft someone and have a long term option.

No I would not do it. Brees is in decline and our defense is not good enough to compete for a championship even with Brees. We are stuck with Tannehill for at least another year. Maybe the new HC can work with him and at least improve him some. I would draft a QB in the middle to late rounds in 2016 and if Tannehill does not show significant improvement next year then I would draft another QB in the high rounds in 2017 and get rid of Tannehill and then we will have 2 young QB's going forward.

          YES!!

I would then trade Pouncey, Miller and Stills in an attempt to gain some of those two draft picks back. The Dolphins would have a real NFL caliber coach AND quarterback, something they haven't had in 20 years. Then, I would draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round for Brees to groom. I wouldn't pass on Bress for the umpteenth time.

At first glance it would seem I'd stamp the NO DEAL stamp on this but..... This would be very interesting. If we can bring a more balnced attack on O with Payton having the understanding that Brees is at an age where the running game will make him a more dangerous passer. Something Tannehill can also accomplish but the instincts compared to Brees is lacking. I'm also so numb to wasting draft picks the last 10 years that the 1 and 2 is not that bad.

Titans still haven't won a game, and have since fired their coach. Yes, they played somewhat better, but their O-Line sucks as bad as the Fins. Mariota getting sacked 4 times a game.
Lazor's play calling was capricious, and often manifested serious head shaking. Last week, the Fins get 5 on a first play run, then Lazor goes pass 2nd down. The rest is history.

To clarify my position on this i'm not a Tannehill fan, though i don't consider myself a Tannehill hater i believe he is who he shown himself to be after 60 career starts; nothing more than a half-decent, middle-of-the-road NFL QB...BUT i don't think the answer is to replace him with a nearing 40 QB whose best years are more than likely a distant memory; i know we screwed the pooch on missing out on Brees not once, but twice..but i'm pretty sure it'd be best to not think we can fix those two wrongs with another wrong!

Hopefully there's a better option when we finally get our new HC & when (if) we decide to move on from Tannehill than to give up 1st (2 1st rounders counting Tannehill) & 2nd rd. picks...This deal would essentially mean that we're giving up a 1st for Payton, a 2nd for a potentially washed-up QB and kicking in our #8 pick from a few years ago for free; as Lazor would say about 50 times a game "I think i'll pass!"

Agreed. Only thing of interest to me in this would be hiring Sean Payton - if we can get him without having to give up anything to the Saints. Definitely not giving up picks for a 37 year old QB who plays his best in a Dome.

I don't want to give up ANY draft picks for any coach. We need ALL the picks we can get.
