  • 30 Years ago tonight ~ MNF Bears vs Dolphins...

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...t-rating-ever/

Still to this day, the highest rated MNF Game EVER!!!

Any Dolphins fan who watched this game knows what a great game it was & what it means to the history of our franchise..and those who missed it or have never seen it have no clue what they missed out on! Years ago i purchased the DVD set off Ebay that has highlights of the Fins undefeated season and the whole 1985 MNF game against the Bears, i highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a trip back to our glory days!

This '85 Bears team were a team on a mission & looked to have destiny on their side. They had one of the all-time great defenses and would cruise into the Orange Bowl with a 12 & 0 record to face our Fins (8 & 4) in that Monday night match-up 30 years ago tonight...The '85 Bears team have been mentioned in some circles as the greatest NFL team ever, of course i'm pretty sure we'd all disagree with that assessment..But make no mistake about it, they were a GREAT team..After our game with them they'd win their final 3 reg. season games & absolutely crush it in the postseason; pitching 2 shut-outs (21-0 against the Giants and 24-0 in the NFC Championship Game against the Rams) Before crushing the Pats in the SB 46-10 (We'd finish the season riding a 7 game winning streak, winning the division, beating the Browns in the playoffs before being crushed by the Pats in the AFC Championship Game, 31-14..Killing the hopes of a rematch of that epic MNF game)

Anyway, getting back to that magical night in the Orange Bowl where with members of the '72 undefeated team walking along the sidelines & cheering the Fins on, the stars would align, and a team that practically everyone gave zero chance of upsetting the mighty Bears would dominate them on this one night...and what a great night it was for Fins fans everywhere...And yes, i know it's ancient history,, but really, what else is there for us gluttons for punishment??!!!

All we Fins fans have are past memories because the present sucks and the future don't look no brighter.

I think i'm gonna throw on that game tonight in celebration and act like i'm watching it in the here & now for the first time...Crazy?? Maybe, but at least i know for a fact i can actually sit down to enjoy a Fins football game & won't be disappointed, bummed-out & depressed by the outcome!

The deeper the roots, the higher the reach.

Careful what you wish for, the lone win against Baltimore is a remembered game too.

Just thinking out loud here but i'm not sure the dumpster fire we're putting on the field right now could beat the 2007 team...

I'm pretty sure they could NOT beat the 2007 team. At least that team tried to win, this team just seems to go belly up.

Man, that's a pretty sad indictment on this joke of an NFL franchise we like to call 'our favorite team'..Especially since the '07 team was one bad Brian Billick call (Still can't believe he elected to kick the FG & send it into overtime with 4th & goal from the one!!) away from being the first team to ever go zero & 16 (up to that point anyway, the Bucs were winless in a 14 game season & the Matt Millen Lions would later go 0 and 16) As i've stated previously, this year's team is one of the worst Dolphins teams i've ever seen, at least in recent memory...

So true, and what's worse is that they spent 114 million on one guy and it won't make a damn bit a difference because it's a team sport...Doh!
