  • I'm so embarressed to be a Dolfan

I feel like an ass being a Dolphin's fan. My 2 boys have mistakenly followed in my foot steps and are fans, but I can see it's killing them. We live near Philly so having them switch to the Eagles isn't a better option thank goodness. But all I can talk about is how it used to be, when I was growing up. The Super Bowls, the playoffs, the great games with the Bills and the Jets. Hell, even the good ole days of Penn State football - but not anymore. This is an embarrassment. Watching other teams draft better, develop players better, not to mention take away the Dolphins 'castoff's' and turn them into productive starters! Wrong GM's, wrong coaches, wrong everything. A season, or 2 or even 3 is completely understandable as all teams go through phases and stages - but 15 years + of this F****g garbage is too much. I'm pissed and sick and tired of this crap. Thank goodness Suh has enough balls to say something, because only he and Landry seem to care.

    I'm out

I will never be embarrassed to be a Dolfan. Thats my team and I could never change and root for another team mainly because it would be hollow and it wouldn't mean anything so there is no point to it for me. The Dolphins are in my DNA. There are times that I am so angry and frustrated with them that I wish I didn't have a team that I care so much about but thats what being a fan is, you have to take the bad times with the good times. I just hope some good times will be coming again and soon. It sucks being irrelevant.

I understand your frustrations TFF but if you change the outlook to character building then it makes you look good!

2 wins and some help the dolphins are in the thick of things for the wild card with 7 other teams too early to give up as bad as the afc is this year

I know how you feel, but I wouldn't say I'm embarrassed. In fact you should be proud that you're STILL a Dolphins fan, because honestly they don't deserve us. I would say frustrated to be a fan is how I feel. It shouldn't be this hard to put a decent product on the field. Worse is I don't know if it is really bad players, bad front office, bad ownership, or bad coaches - probably all of the above. Still I think we have decent talent and I don't think we have the coaching staff, or have had the coaching staff that knows how to put a game plan together to help these players succeed. When New England can run out practice squad guys and still compete and win it tells me talent isn't the only thing that makes a team successful.

So the frustrating part is what is really broken? What is salvageable? Complete rebuild, or minor tweaking? New QB, or new offensive game plan? To me that is the frustrating part - I don't know what needs fixing, but I do know the coaches we've had for the past decade plus didn't fix anything and they changed schemes, changed players (who by the way go to other teams and play really well). We've gone through multiple GM's, and coaches. When will we get lucky and get the right combination in here to see a competitive team again? Man, hopefully in my lifetime because changing favorite teams isn't an option for me.

Great post Homer & pretty much exactly how i feel..though at times i must admit i definitely feel embarrassed to admit i still have so much emotionally invested in this team!!

I'd never be able to switch teams, how do people even do that?? I think at the very least it would take a heart transplant and maybe a few blood transfusions to boot! But somethings gotta give because a lot of us are running outta years!! I imagine in my case if things don't take a drastic turn in the next few years i may just give up on football altogether - Don't know if it's only because my favorite team has consistently sucked in like forever, but i don't find football nearly as exciting as i used to...

I think the thing that drives me the most crazy about the Fins is that nothing EVER changes except the calendar year & the names & faces of players & staff; it's bizarre that we could completely switch out every guy on both sides of the ball, gut our entire front office & coaching staff, even get a new owner and guaranteed we'd still field a soft-ass team that still makes the same mistakes and will still have a loser's mentality..It's mind boggling!

lol - DP a heart transplant would do he trick, because unfortunately 99% of the folks here love the dolphins from the core, it's a deep rooted love for a team that captured our hearts years ago. I couldn't agree more because every year seems like ground hogs day. So much hype and promise, big offseason moves, only to be scratching our heads by mid season wondering what just happened. I am so tired of debating whether we "try to win" for the sake of pride, or tank for a better draft. This team divides it's own fan base like none other. We should all be united because we share a love for the phins but instead the team, management, coaches divide us. Sad

Ross should be embarrassed for this product he's serving up to us fans... It's shameful football..

I apologize to my kids every Sunday. My daughter watches online from Mississippi where she is in college and every week I get a text from her asking why I brought her up a dolphin fan.

I tried bringing my daughter up a Fins fan...but she was a bit smarter than her old man; her best friend was from Boston and a Patriots fan, my daughter jumped on that bandwagon faster than you could say 'The Dolphins Suck!'

lol..To be honest i really can't blame her; unlike me she wasn't born in Florida & other than me had zero attachment to the Fins..She was raised in Virginia which has no pro team (though they try shoving the Redskins down our throats on a weekly basis) Hell, sometimes i wish i would've gotten to pick my favorite team instead of having this albatross hung around my neck for life, sigh-h-h-h...
