  • QB sleepers

I think its obvious that we have to draft a QB next year. I would not do it in the first round though since we have to address our defense and the top 3 prospects will probably be off the board by the time we select anyway, Paxton Lynch, Jared Goff and Connor Cook. Here are some QB sleepers who I would consider drafting in the later rounds.

    Nate Sudfeld - Indiana- 20 TD's - 5 INT's 60.5 comp% 283.4 YPG 8.5 YPA 9 sacks

    Brandon Allen - Arkansas 29 TD's - 6 INT's 65.1 comp% 274.8 YPG 9.2 YPA 11 sacks

    Baker Mayfield - Oklahoma 33 TD's - 5 INT's 68.7 comp% 291.7 YPG 9.8 YPA 32 sacks - his high sack number scares me

haha good one. i think tannehill and lazor both have to go. the pats have a dink and dunk offense but our offense isn't even that. you have to actually throw the football 5 to 10 yards downfield to be a dink and dunk offense. it seems like tannehill is regressing and all he can do now is throw the ball 2 or 3 yards downfield. he has no awareness of his surroundings. i seriously think he has a problem with his vision and he can't read the entire field. i also think his athleticism is overrated. whenever there is pressure he is terrible at eluding it. he just does not have the instincts for the position. he is never going to be a winning qb in the nfl.

I agree 100%..The #'s may say different but the eyeballs tell me he's way worse than last year. The sooner we cut bait the sooner we can start looking for a real NFL starting QB...

I would take a flyer on Jake Coker in the mid to late rounds. He has an NFL arm and has improving as the season goes on.

Sudfeld is not bad, and I could see drafting him. The good or bad thing? He comes from a losing program and should be able to fit right in. He will know what it is like not having things go right.

IF and that's a big IF, Tbaum runs this draft like he did the last one taking BPA per the scouting board, he could very well take another QB in any round.

That said, I'd think it foolish to do so with the gaping holes we have at DB, DE, LB, and OG. You can address some of these in FA, but you still have to fill them with youth from the draft as well. We have 1 solid LB and that is Jenkins. Misi is ok when healthy, but he never plays an entire season. Grimes is old and can't stay healthy. Thomas is the best FS we have and he's mediocre as well. As for guards, we now know what we have in Thomas and Turner.

I suspect we won't see a QB drafted until the 5th round or later. Most likely we bring in UDFAs again unless we dump Matt Moore. Just too many holes and Tannehill is tied to the team until the end of 2016, so it'd be 2017 before we moved him.

Carson Wentz, Christian Hackenberg, and Jake Coker are 3 guys to watch what happens with.

I agree, we have so many defensive holes to fill not to mention the o-line. We can't afford to draft a QB early on and Tannehill is going to be back next year anyway. I would wait until at least the 4th round to draft a QB but I might consider drafting one in the 3rd round if one of the highly thought of prospects happens to drop in the draft and is available to us.

I would use free agency to address the o-line and maybe we can sign one defensive starter, someone like Tayshaun Gipson. Then I would use the draft to address our defense.

Its really scary how many needs we have. This is what you get when you are so incompetent in the draft for so long.

It wasn't just incompetence in the draft. Philbin jettisoned a ton of talent at these positions that went elsewhere and are playing well. Ross gave Philbin too much power and that and the dumping talented players was part of the falling out between he and Ireland. Jury is out on Hickey still and there's no guarantee that Tbaum will keep him.

This is the most crucial off-season of the past 4-5 years. Will impact coaching and the future of our QB and running game. They get it wrong and we're doomed to another 4-5 years of meaningless football and wasted talent.

                  Hoping for the best.

I think tannehill has never really had any one to challenge him in training camp, they need to draft a qb and get a qb that's been in the nfl to come in camp and compete against tannehill for the job and that's something the philbin goup never did with a quality qb. not geno smith but maybe colin kaeparnick or a qb that has had experience because moore is history. I predict that tannehill become our backup qb by 2017
