Thank you and GO DOLPHINS!
I know we are really deep at the receiver position but does this guy have a chance to make the team? This is a big time catch. You can't teach this stuff.
I'd say he's a long shot, unless he can show some potential on special teams. Parker, Stills, Landry, and Jennings are all locks. It'll be tough for somebody who has floated around various practice squads, and has a career total of 1 catch for 8 yards to beat out Rishard Matthews, who's been solid the last couple years.

Byrd has only had one catch. Mathews is having a great camp, and just gets better and better. If Byrd continues to show up then I agree. I would love to have some more blood from the U!
Ideally, Byrd keeps improving, and we can sell high on Matthews, and try and bring in some depth either on the offensive line, or at LB.

Watching this catch I can't help but think how many times in the last couple of years I have seen that same throw to Wallace (the highest paid WR in NFL) and him not even put his hands up let alone lay out. Only to generate the impression that RT can't throw the deep ball. I wouldn't trade Byrd for Wallace so maybe he gets a shot?
Excellent point Phintim. That's what I was talking about when I said you can't coach that kind of effort. Either a guy has it or he doesn't. Wallace didn't have it.
