  • Comparing Rough Stats 2014 vs 2015 on O

Many do not like stats as they can be very misleading but, they are a big part of the NFL. With that in mind, here's a rough comparison of how out top skill guys compared.

    Tannehill

    2014- Passed for 4045 yards, a 6.9 average, 27 TD's with 12 picks, 46 sacks, and a QBR of 92.8

    2015- Passed for 2237 yards, a 7.5 average, 13 TD's with 9 picks, 23 sacks. and a QBR of 88.7

    Miller

    2014- Ran for 1099 yards, a 5.1 average, and 8 TD's.

    2015- Ran for 478 yards, a 5.3 average, and 5 TD's.

    WR

    2014- Wallace had 862 yards, a 12.9 average, and 10 TD's

    2015- Matthews has 554 yards, a 15.0 average,and 4 TD's

Damn, based on these numbers, we are seeing just about the same as a year ago on O.

Does the O seem the same to you for better or worse than what the numbers say from 2014 to 2015?

Even though the stats are fairly close, stats can be misleading. It feels like our offense is not as good as last year not that is was that great last year either. Aside from the Titans and Texans games we are just not scoring many points. 10, 20, 14, 14, 7, 17.

Thru the first 7 games in 2014, RT had passed for 1619 yards, 11 TDs, 6 INTs. and had 23 sacks. His YPA was 6.78 and he had a PR of 87.6.

We had a healthier OL thru those games last year I think. Really excited to see more of Ajayi and the 1-2 punch he and Miller will provide going forward.

I don't know about the offense as a whole ,but tannehill seems way off this year. at times ryan looks lost and uningauged and flat. at times when bad things happen on the field he trots off the field like ,get me off this field, where marino or other qb's would be steaming mad at them self or someone else, that's what I see!

Eli Manning and Joe Flacco get criticized for the same stuff. There are plenty of other QBs who don't carry their emotions on their sleeves. To where some QBs get pissed and yell at OLmen or WRs, he usually retains his composure and goes and talks to Lazor or the WR one on one after the play.

But even if he did throw a fit and yell at people, a faction of the fans would criticize him for a lack of composure and showing poor leadership by doing so. Until we make the playoffs, he's always going to be damned either way.

I don't think he has to yell at teammates but I just don't see the fire or leadership in him. If he's ever going to do it, now is the time for him to step up and lead this team. I don't know that the team looks at him as their leader.

I agree that he should exert himself more but from what I've read, his teammates on both sides of the ball respect him and see him as the leader of the offense. In a lot of ways, RT reminds me of Bert Jones with the Colts. Bert's greatest flaw was not being Johnny U. If RT had Bert's intensity, I think he'd quieten a lot of this sort of stuff.

I see what your saying and there are 2 ways of raising kids and discipline ,one is physical punishment for discipline, and then there's the talk calmly to them and in that build respect with the child.
I was raised the first way,if I misbehaved in a bad way ,I got the hand or paddle!
I personally believe in a little of both ways.
so I believe that there should be ,not physical, but emotional response and then going over to the side lines and calmly talking to a player about the play after I unleashed my thoughts or discouragement!
that's why I hated philbin,to me it shows weakness to pat someone on the back when they come off the field if they just royally screwed up.

and it comes back to a head coach building a team that fits his beliefs and style, and to come in and take over someone elses team built to his style.
tannehill does not fit my style and my style is exactly how dan campbell is doing it,making people want to do it with emotion!
but I can see the other side too ,to me there's a line in the sand and some times you have to cross the line!

Again, I'm not sure if it's actually a lack of perceived emotion or intensity that people question. From all accounts he's smart, tough, and competitive.

I have to add one thing in favor of Lazor and Miller in his receiving this year. Last year, Miller caught 38 of 52 for a 7.2 avg, 1 over 20+, and 1 TD. This year. he is 27 of 30 for a 10 yard average. 5 over 20+, and 2 TD's. Miller's receiving is really an extension of his running, and there has been a VG improvement in use by Lazor and execution. This was a soft spot in his game last season, and has really stepped it up.

          Really hope we keep him.

With the QB run threat from the read option now basically obselete, all of the 1st round QBs that run it (Kaepernick, RGIII and RT) and the pistol formation are obselete, which makes Bill Lazor obselete. Defenses have had plenty of time to break this system down while the offense and our QB running it haven't progressed. Therefore we have gotten worse and will continue to get worse. Slick isn't cutting it. This is the NFL and at some point you have to be man enough to face power with power and aggression with aggression. Our offense gets no respect and puts fear into no one. Just attack us in the ten yard box and our offense will shrink and our QB will crumble. It may improve if we change all of our WRs in the off-season.
