2023 PhinZone Fantasy Football League

It’s early but we’re open for business!


I renewed the PhinZone Football League on Yahoo to secure the league

Yes, I made settings changes that everyone that spoke up last season talked about (The ones I could remember Lol)



CHANGES

The Divisions were removed so that just the top teams make the playoffs and it has nothing to do with divisions

I made it so that 6 teams make the playoffs instead of just 4 like last season (Top 2 Teams get a bye week)

I also added another Flex Position (WR, RB and TE)


None of these changes are set in stone yet and we can Vote on everything as per usually with majority rules

Majority Rules - Nothing will ever be unanimous so having a Majority Rules vote is the only fair way to do this league

If anyone has any setting ideas to help improve the league please let us all know about them


Everyone that played last season is invited back and if anyone does not want to play please let me know

I’m good with playing on yahoo again but I think you should give nfl.com a chance, I really think the format is better and a lot would like it, plus new guys played on Yahoo for the first time maybe you guys can play on nfl.com for the first time this year

I didn’t think that this was still a discussion about what format we were going to use

70% of the league voted for Yahoo and you guys from FieldChatter wanted NFL . com

I got an e-mail from Yahoo asking me if I wanted to renew the league, so I did

To create the new league all it took was one click of a button and BAMM, the league was there for us all

Also, two out of the three owners who wanted NFL .com were in the Yahoo Championship Game last season so I figured you guys might like it there

If this is going to be this leagues first problem this season we can put it to another vote

That’s really strange that you can’t get into the league

Your team is in there so I don’t know what the problem is

I wonder if anyone else is having this problem?

All of those changes sound like things we talked about improving on from last season (which actually went pretty smooth once we got rolling)..

As co-commissioner I want to reiterate to everyone that any rule or change you want or disagree with just ask Chris to bring it to a vote of the league. It's still early so we don't even have the league set yet, but as long as every topic can be voted on that makes it fair and all decisions would be league majority. It takes 5 votes to approve or deny a change.

Staying with Yahoo makes sense since more than likely the league will be the same managers as before and it saves a ton of set up time and learning the new NFL.com system. I'm not against a change by any means if the league majority agrees. I know both E and Taylor really like NFL.com. I think when the time comes (if you guys push it to a vote) it would be super helpful to list the pros and cons for the other managers.

At the end of the day we all want this league to be fun, competitive, and fair to everyone. Any changes that make it better are on the table at this point.

Looking forward to a fun season again, only with a better result and less injuries!!!

Yeah the no rule changes after draft is important. I know we got on the wrong side of E when we added the extra flex (at the request of Taylor, then approved by the league majority) and I completely understand where E was coming from. At the same time like you said it was a new league, new managers, and a combination of a the forum old keeper managers, new forum members who joined, and a few of the FC guys. Just pulling off a league last year was a huge accomplishment. With the exception of a few bumps it really went well IMO. I think improving on it and learning from our mistakes is important and that is exactly what we will attempt to do this year. Again, thanks for being pro active and getting us thinking about it again. It will be here sooner than we know it.

We were flying by the seat of our pants last offseason and into the draft. We just wanted to have the best league possible, and you were right in principle that you should never change a roster after you draft for a different roster size. But again, we wanted to make it fun and increase the scoring and decrease the number of guys you'd have to leave on the bench. Like you said, you won despite the the curve ball after the draft so well done in managing that.. You did a lot better than I did lol..

We won't do that again.. All rules will be decided on prior and set for the entire season.

Here is to another exciting season. I think we had active owners and it was a pretty competitive league... So that is always a great sign.

We have talked about this before and neither of us wanted to change any rules after the draft

But, right after the draft Taylor brought up a really interesting idea about having an extra flex position

That extra flex position sounded like it would make the league more fun and it effected every team equally

So, we put it to a vote and it was a 9-1 vote so it went through

As we’ve both mentioned above, this was a one time thing because it was our first season

Going forward ALL rules/settings will be voted on before the draft with the majority having final say

That is the most fair way to help make this league as fun for everyone as we can

We can’t make every single owner happy but we can try and make as many as we can happy though 😊

And it needs to be said... 2 years ago when I started to organise the troops for this league... I was dealing with a certain you know who... and it was hellish. (Thank you flying spaghetti monster he is no longer involved.) We removed that drama and had a great season after the speed bump at the start. It is a thankless job running a league.... So I will be the first one to say Thank you...I know all too well the headache it can sometimes be.

I hate the way that it shook out... The last game being only partly played. I am glad the kid survived and that is what is most important.

I did not write the rules.
I cannot control that the game got called half way through

Someone had to win and the league picked me

I am not talking shitt towards you...

But I will take the win.

There was nothing either of us could have done differently...

It is just the way it shook down.

I have seen games lost because of a bad call and it decided who won a League... It sucks... But it happens.

To anyone that lost a game or did not win their league due to a bullshiitt call that changed the outcome of a FF game or season... I am sorry.
I know it is frustrating.. but I did not do it... That is just the way the cookie crumbled.

I wish the kid never got hurt in that game... I wish he did not have a heart attack on the field. I wish they finished up the game. (At a later time) I wish we did not have to have this discussion...
